Sofortbild App Reviews

This App Adds a Sorely Needed Feature to Lightroom

I love this app. I also love Adobe Lightroom. But, shooting tethered is shooting blind with Lightroom as there is no “live view” on the computer. It shows you the image after the capture. By using Lightroom and creating a “watched folder,” then have Sofortbild download captures to that folder. You not only get your captures automatically imported into Lightroom, but you can compose and shoot from a “live view” on your computer screen using Sofortbild. It makes my Canon shooting students jealous.

No D-70 Support !!!

Killed my enthusiasm right there……. You have the D60, D80 the D90 but not the D70 ?????

Nothing beats free...

I was looking for some cheap software that would allow me to view my video setup on a bigger platform than my Nikon’s LCD. This does that beautifully. I can’t believe it’s free? It’s probably not for you if you’re looking to impress your clients with the instant gratification of seeing their photos, as the interface is pretty remedial. But it’s definitly a great tool for a novice or pro-am. I should mention I’m shooting on a D7100 and it recogizies my camera fine.

Not Compatible!!!!!!

Warning!!!!!!!! Do not buy this if you have the most upto date operating system because it will not work. It also does not work with the newest Nikon DLSR’s. In other words…. it has not been updated in a long time and is basically a waste of money.

Please update!

I was really excited to use this program only to find out it doesnt work with os x el capitan. please update it so that it does.

Does not work with El Capitan

Not compatiable with the newest OS X.

Runs well in a Virtual Machine

While this app is not working in El Capitan, it does run well in a virtual machine of an earlier OS, running inside El Capitan. I have VMware Fusion 8.1 with a Mountain Lion OS on a current MacBook Air - also gave it a successful try with Yosemite vm. One thing to keep in mind is to set the vm to use USB 2.0 (not 3.0) so it can connect with the camera. Problem solved and your main OS can be kept current. Sofortbild is just too wonderful to live without. I fire the camera with an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard (Command-r) as I walk around the studio set-up, adjusting the subject and lighting without unneccasary trips back to the tripod.

Needs to be updated to El Capitan!

None of the programs I’ve used compare to Sofortbild. But it definitevely needs to be upgraded to El Capitan, even if it stops being free. It’s a chore and a bother to have to restart my system every time I need to use Sofortbild, which is often. Otherwise, it does the job in a great fashion. I would give it five stars except for this annoying fact. Great job, anyway.

Cannot find camera

Running the latest OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 and app cannot find camera. I have the D600 which should be compatible.

Cant Find camera

Ive installed, removed, reinstalled, over and over, bough a new cable, tried 5 differnt cords i have here. Nothing works, it wont find my camera (D90). Ive contacted the developer multiple times and have yet to receive a response. Can Anyone help???

Works with the Nikon D700, here’s how!

How I got it to work quickly with the Nikon D700. First off, this software DOES NOT save the photos you take while tethered to the CF card! It saves all photos straight to a folder you designate onto your desktop or where ever. Keep that in mind. When I first tried to use this software with the D700 it wouldn’t recognize the camera… or so I thought. What was really happening is it was reading the CF card! So if you have a lot of photos on your card, it will take a long time before the software recognizes the camera and lets you use it. The solution: Turn off the D700, take out the CF card, turn it back on... and boom, it should work almost instantly! Because the photos are saved directly to the computer, you don’t need the CF card in the camera. If you REALLY want it in there, remove all your photos and it should read and recognize it faster. Hope this helps! P.S. This may work with other Nikon models
